Jember, Sunday, June 9, 2024, hosted a Regional Tax Talkshow at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, University of Jember. Organized by the KSMP Tax Center, the event, themed “New Policies, New Opportunities: Understanding Regional Government Strategies in Response to Government Regulation Number 35 of 2023,” was conducted in a hybrid format (online and offline) and was open to the public.
The event was attended by the Vice Dean for Finance and General Affairs of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences and lecturers from the Diploma III Taxation Study Program. Additionally, delegates from various institutions were present, including the Tax Center of UIN Khas Jember, Tax Center Polije, Tax Center ITS Mandala, Febi UIJ, SMAN 2 Jember, SMKN 4 Jember, and SMAN 1 Jember.
Fadliya, a Senior Expert in Central and Regional Financial Analysis, delivered the keynote speech, providing an overview of the implementation of Regional Taxes and Levies as stipulated in Government Regulation Number 35 of 2023 concerning General Provisions for Regional Taxes and Levies (PP KUPDPRD).
Three expert speakers further enriched the discussion:
- Prianto Budi Saptono, AK., CA., MBA, Director of PT. Pratama Indomitra, who elaborated on the topic “New Policies, New Opportunities: Understanding Regional Government Strategies in Response to PP 35/2023.” He delved into the relationship between PP 35/2023 and district/city governments, including its impact, the primary challenges faced by regional governments post-implementation, and strategies to maximize tax revenue.
- Hendra Surya Putra, S.STP, Acting Head of the Jember Regional Revenue Agency, discussed the management and synergy of Regional Tax and Motor Vehicle License Tax (MBLB) levy collection. His presentation covered various taxes collected by provincial governments as outlined in Article 4a Paragraph 1 of the Regional Financial Management Law, such as Vehicle Registration Tax (PKB), Vehicle Ownership Transfer Fee (BBNKB), Heavy Equipment Tax (PAB), Motor Vehicle Fuel Tax (PBBKB), Surface Water Tax (PAP), Cigarette Tax, and MBLB levy. He also highlighted taxes collected by district/city governments, including PKB and BBNKB levies.
- Mohammad Mahfud, S.Sos., M.Si., Head of Data and Assessment Division of the Banyuwangi Regional Revenue Agency, addressed the opportunities and challenges in collecting regional taxes post-implementation of PP 35/2023. Key points covered included PKB and BBNKB levies, the synergy of collection and funding levies, MBLB levies, and optimizing regional tax collection.
