The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) at the University of Jember (UNEJ) held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on Tuesday, February 4, 2024, to develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for student affairs and academics. The event took place in the FISIP UNEJ meeting room and was attended by faculty leaders, lecturers, education staff, and student representatives from various study programs within FISIP.
The Dean of FISIP UNEJ, Suyani Indriastuti, S.Sos., M.Si., Ph.D., stated in her remarks that the development of these SOPs is an important step to improve service quality in student affairs and academics. “These SOPs will serve as a guide for the entire academic community of FISIP in carrying out the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. With clear SOPs, it is expected that services to students and all stakeholders can be more effective, efficient, and transparent,” she said.
The FGD was divided into several group discussion sessions that discussed various aspects related to student affairs and academics. In the field of student affairs, the discussions included SOPs related to new student registration, scholarship management, extracurricular activities, and guidance and counseling services. Meanwhile, in the academic field, the discussions focused on SOPs related to the learning process, assessment, exams, and the preparation of final assignments.
The results of this FGD will be used as input for the SOP drafting team, which will be tasked with formulating a draft of the SOPs in the fields of student affairs and academics. Furthermore, the draft SOPs will be disseminated to the entire academic community of FISIP to gather input and improvements before being finalized and implemented.
This FGD activity is a manifestation of FISIP UNEJ’s commitment to continuously strive to improve the quality of education and service to students. With clear and measurable SOPs, it is expected that FISIP UNEJ can produce quality graduates who are highly competitive.
