The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) at Jember University recently convened a crucial meeting to follow up on the results of the Student Lecturer Evaluation (EDOM) conducted in the previous semester. Held on April 17, 2025, in the FISIP Jember University Meeting Room, the gathering included faculty leadership, heads of study programs, and lecturer representatives. Its primary objective was to thoroughly analyze the EDOM findings and formulate strategic measures to enhance teaching quality within the campus environment.
In her address, the Dean of FISIP, Dr. Suyani Indriastuti, S.Sos., M.Si., Ph.D., underscored the significance of EDOM as a constructive feedback mechanism from students. She emphasized that the evaluation results are invaluable assets that can assist both the university and lecturers in continuous improvement, thereby providing students with a superior learning experience. “We are committed to seriously addressing every input provided by students. This meeting is a tangible manifestation of that commitment,” she stated.
The core of the meeting featured a summary presentation of the EDOM results by a dedicated team that had meticulously analyzed the data. Key areas highlighted included teaching methods, material delivery, lecturer-student interaction, and the availability and quality of learning resources. The subsequent discussion was dynamic, encompassing diverse perspectives and experiences from both lecturers and students. Student representatives expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to participate in the evaluation process and voiced their hope that the EDOM results would lead to positive changes.
Based on the discussions, several critical points were agreed upon as follow-up actions. These include organizing workshops and training for lecturers on innovative teaching methods and pedagogical skill enhancement, establishing regular discussion forums between lecturers and students at the study program level, and reviewing and updating the curriculum to be more responsive to student needs. Additionally, the faculty plans to develop a more effective online learning support system.
The meeting concluded with a reaffirmation of the collective commitment from all parties to collaborate in elevating the teaching quality at FISIP Jember University. The concrete measures formulated will be promptly implemented and their effectiveness regularly evaluated. It is anticipated that these efforts will foster a more conducive learning environment and produce graduates who are highly competent and competitive.
