The TOP SUN (Tourism of Planning and Sustainable Development) Research Group from the DIII Tourism Business Study Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), University of Jember, conducted research on formulating an educational tourism package design towards becoming a leading agrotourism-based tourist village in Pancasila Sukoreno Village, Umbulsari District. The event, held at the Sukoreno Village Hall on May 18, 2025, was attended by various key village stakeholders, demonstrating strong synergy in the effort to develop local tourism potential.
This activity aimed to formulate a tourism package design that not only attracts tourists but also provides profound educational value regarding the excellent agricultural potential of Pancasila Sukoreno Village. The presence of the Head of Sukoreno Village, Mr. Achmad Choiri, Village Secretary Mrs. Nuril, representatives from the Village-Owned Enterprise (BumDesa), Karang Taruna (Youth Organization), Gabungan Kelompok Tani (Gapoktan – Farmers Group Association), and the Forum Komunikasi Kerukunan Umat Beragama (FKUB – Religious Harmony Communication Forum) served as proof of full support from various parties for this initiative.
During the research and discussion session, the TOP SUN Research Group presented various concepts and ideas related to the development of agrotourism educational packages. They explored the unique potential of Pancasila Sukoreno Village, ranging from innovative agricultural practices, local wisdom in natural resource management, to the potential of superior village products that could become tourist attractions. Participants actively provided input and ideas, fostering constructive collaboration to produce a comprehensive and sustainable tourism package design.
The Head of Sukoreno Village, Mr. Achmad Choiri, welcomed this initiative from the TOP SUN Research Group, University of Jember. He expressed his hope that this research would produce a tourism package design capable of improving the village community’s economy, introducing the village’s potential to a wider audience, and preserving environmental sustainability and local cultural values. This synergy between academics and the village community is expected to be a positive first step in realizing Pancasila Sukoreno Village as a leading agrotourism-based tourist destination.
Through this research, it is hoped that Pancasila Sukoreno Village will soon have clear guidance in developing its tourism potential. The resulting agrotourism educational package design is expected to attract tourists seeking a holiday experience that is not only enjoyable but also provides deeper knowledge and understanding of agriculture and rural life. This step marks an important momentum for Pancasila Sukoreno Village to prepare itself to become a competitive and sustainable tourist destination in Jember Regency.
