The Faculty Student Activity Unit (UKMF) Wisma Gita from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), University of Jember, has once again achieved a distinguished national milestone. The performing arts group successfully secured first place in the Traditional Dance Competition category at the prestigious Festival Bogasari 2026, held at the Jember Town Square (Alun-Alun Jember). Showcasing a contemporary East Javanese traditional dance, Wisma Gita captivated both the panel of judges and thousands of spectators through their synchronized movements, profound expressions, and rich choreography, all seamlessly blended with dynamic traditional musical rhythms.
Festival Bogasari 2026, which took place on January 18, 2026, was a national-scale event that brought extraordinary festivity to the heart of Jember. Beyond the dance competition, the festival featured an innovative recycled-material fashion show and a vibrant live music stage. Targeting an attendance of 15,000 visitors, the festival served not only as a platform to showcase artistic talent but also as a powerful economic catalyst, driven by the active participation of dozens of local Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) showcasing their flagship products around the venue.
This victory by UKMF Wisma Gita stands as a testament to the dedication of FISIP UNEJ students in preserving Indonesian cultural heritage amidst modern influences. Their triumph on the Alun-Alun Jember stage further solidifies Wisma Gita’s reputation as a student organization that consistently achieves excellence in the art of dance.
