JEMBER – The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) at the University of Jember (UNEJ) has reached a significant institutional milestone with the official acceptance of its inaugural International Conference on Multidisciplinary Issues (INCOMI 2025) by Atlantis Press (Springer Nature). This achievement marks FISIP UNEJ’s first international conference to be included in the publisher’s prestigious list, solidifying its commitment to global academic engagement.

The Journey to INCOMI 2025: A Timeline of Milestones

The development of INCOMI 2025 was a structured process, evolving from a local initiative to a recognized international event:

1. Initial Concept and Idea (July 2025) The journey began with FISIP UNEJ’s initiative to elevate its existing partner conference (KONAMI) to an international level. Intensive discussions among the faculty leadership were held to determine a theme and subthemes aligned with current global challenges. The conference was officially named INCOMI—International Conference on Multidisciplinary Issues.

2. Proposal Development (August 2025) The faculty drafted the conference proposal in English, establishing the main theme: “Governing the Future: Collaboration, Innovation, and Sustainability for 2045.” Cross-disciplinary subthemes were identified, spanning areas such as digital governance, climate policy, geopolitics, and Gen Z democracy. A Scientific Committee was formed, including international academics from Indonesia, Algeria, Vietnam, and other countries.

3. Administrative Preparation (August 2025) Key administrative steps were completed, including the creation of the official Call for Papers flyer, the compilation of formal documents for Atlantis Press (proposal, Letter of Agreement, and administrative requirements), and the development of the conference domain/website: incomi.fisip.unej.ac.id.

4. Submission to Atlantis Press (August 2025) The comprehensive INCOMI proposal was submitted to Atlantis Press. It underwent a rigorous evaluation process by the publisher’s editorial team, resulting in necessary name adjustments to comply with international standards.

5. Official Acceptance (September 2025) In a historic moment for FISIP UNEJ, Atlantis Press formally accepted INCOMI 2025 into its official list of international conferences. INCOMI now stands alongside numerous other reputable international conferences, marking a crucial turning point for the faculty.

6. Editorial and Publication Phase (October–December 2025) Following the acceptance, the focus shifts to the academic proceedings. This phase includes collecting full papers from conference participants, conducting a double-blind peer review process involving national and international reviewers, and preparing camera-ready papers according to the Atlantis Press template. The final output will be published as a proceedings volume with a DOI, open access, and will be submitted for indexing to major international abstracting and indexing databases, including Scopus, Web of Science (WoS), and DOAJ.
