The study visit of International Relations students from Universiti Zainal Abidin, Malaysia, to the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) at Universitas Jember on September 5, 2024, was a significant step in enriching students’ academic perspectives. This activity aimed to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and experiences between the two higher education institutions, particularly in the field of international relations. Through this visit, it is hoped that students can gain a deeper understanding of the dynamics of international relations in the Southeast Asian region, especially in Indonesia.
During the visit, students from Universiti Zainal Abidin, Malaysia, participated in various activities prepared by FISIP Universitas Jember. These activities included presentations on the study program profile, panel discussions with FISIP lecturers and students, international community service, and a visit to the Pancasila village in Sukoreno village, Umbulsari district, Jember. In addition, students also had the opportunity to interact directly with the local community through social activities. Through these activities, students can obtain a more comprehensive picture of the academic and social environment in Indonesia.
This study visit yielded a number of interesting findings. Students from Universiti Zainal Abidin, Malaysia, gained a deeper understanding of the curriculum and teaching methods implemented at FISIP Universitas Jember. In addition, students also gained new insights into current issues in international relations in the Southeast Asian region. Interaction with FISIP students also provided opportunities for students to expand their network of friends and cooperation in the future.
This study visit was a valuable experience for International Relations students from Universiti Zainal Abidin, Malaysia. This activity not only enriched students’ academic perspectives but also provided opportunities for students to develop soft skills such as communication, cooperation, and adaptation. It is hoped that this visit can be the first step towards a closer cooperation between Universiti Zainal Abidin, Malaysia, and Universitas Jember in the future.
