MPA. MAPALUS deployed 2 people in a humanitarian mission along with rubber boat equipment. The widespread and unabated flooding in Demak-Kudus has become a concern for MPA.MAPALUS as a form of caring for others.

There were 90 villages in 11 sub-districts affected by the flood. The number of affected residents is estimated to be more than 97,000 people and around 25,000 people are displaced. Starting with a coordination meeting with SAR OPA Jember on March 19, 2024 at the MAPALA UMJ secretariat, delegates who were considered capable and competent in the field of water rescue were finally selected.

Selected personnel from MPA. MAPALUS, namely Agum Wangsa Gumintang (NIA. MPL. 2022.XXXVI-462SP) and Wahyu Andriatmojo (NIA. MPL. 2022.XXXVII-484SP). Both are students of FISIP University of Jember majoring in Social Welfare and State Administration Science class of 2021.

“MPA. MAPALUS itself does not just delegate members to volunteer. We sent the two members because of their capacity in rescue, especially in water. The equipment brought are boats, buoys, and paddles.” Said Erwin (Datuk), an alumnus of MPA. MAPALUS who is also the coordinator of the Demak-Kudus flood volunteers.

The team departed with 9 other volunteers from MAPALA throughout Jember on March 20, 2024 using a car. Previously the team had pocketed data on evacuation target points to facilitate the movement process. The volunteers served for 7 days starting from the date of departure.
