Lecturers from the Business Administration Study Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), at the University of Jember (UNEJ) recently held a community service event focusing on ‘beautypreneurship’. The event, conducted at State Vocational High School (SMK Negeri 4) Jember on Thursday, October 2, 2025, aimed to cultivate an understanding of personal branding and professionalism among female students, skills deemed crucial for their future entry into the workforce.
This activity is an implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, ensuring that students not only engage in classroom learning but also directly contribute to the community. The Head of the event stated that the main goal was to provide the students with insight that a well-maintained and professional appearance is a key aspect of building a positive self-image. The overwhelming enthusiasm from the participants highlighted the relevance and need for this type of training.
The material presented covered fundamental theories of personal branding, the importance of first impressions in a professional setting, and basic techniques for applying natural and polite makeup suitable for work or interviews. In addition to theoretical presentations, the event included a hands-on practice session, where students were guided by the university students to apply the knowledge they had gained.
SMK Negeri 4 Jember warmly welcomed the initiative from the lecturers of the Business Administration Study Program, FISIP, UNEJ. A supervising teacher from SMKN 4 Jember expressed that the training provided significant added value for the students, particularly in boosting their self-confidence and preparing them to compete in the industry. According to the teacher, non-academic skills such as these are essential for producing job-ready graduates.
It is hoped that through this beautypreneurship activity, SMKN 4 Jember students will not only acquire practical skills but also a deeper understanding of the importance of establishing a professional image from an early stage. This collaboration between the higher education sector and vocational school is expected to continue, fostering a generation of young people who are competent, confident, and highly competitive.
