JEMBER – The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) at Jember University (UNEJ) successfully hosted the “Talent Scouting Workshop Series 2: Technical Preparation for Overseas Doctoral (S3) Studies” on October 7–8, 2025.
The event, held in the International Room, was officially opened by the Vice Dean for Student Affairs and Alumni, Dr. Edy Wahyudi, MM, who represented the Dean of FISIP UNEJ, Suyani Indriastuti, M.SI., Ph.D. This workshop is part of the faculty’s commitment to continuous improvement and quality enhancement, initiated at the beginning of 2025.
In his remarks, Dr. Edy emphasized that pursuing a doctoral degree abroad is not an easy path, but one that requires great struggle and sacrifice. The workshop was specifically designed to equip prospective applicants with the necessary technical and strategic knowledge, covering everything from compiling a competitive research proposal and selecting overseas universities and supervisors to preparing for scholarship applications. This comprehensive preparation is expected to help attendees better anticipate the challenges of overseas study.
FISIP UNEJ’s commitment to supporting the academic advancement of its community is also reflected in other recently held activities. The faculty previously organized a national seminar that inspired entrepreneurship and innovation, showcasing a dynamic academic ecosystem that supports career development. This support is viewed as a long-term investment aimed at producing superior graduates and educators who will ultimately contribute significantly to the advancement of higher education in Indonesia.
Dr. Edy Wahyudi, MM, stressed the importance of further doctoral studies for institutional strengthening. “We are committed to continually improving the quality of services and human resources at FISIP UNEJ,” he stated, highlighting that the presence of doctorate-holding lecturers is a pillar for realizing an excellent faculty relevant to contemporary developments. This strategic step aligns with the vision to enhance the faculty’s accreditation and competitiveness at both national and global levels.
The Talent Scouting Workshop is expected to motivate and prepare FISIP UNEJ lecturers and prospective academics to pursue the highest level of study. By elevating the quality of its human resources, FISIP UNEJ aims to strengthen its foundation in addressing global challenges and making a greater contribution to national development, consistent with its core mission.
