The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) of Universitas Jember (UNEJ) has officially established a partnership with the National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM). This collaboration was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) held at the International Room, FISIP, UNEJ.
This MoU is expected to strengthen the synergy between academics and human rights practitioners in efforts to enhance understanding and uphold human rights in Indonesia. The scope of the collaboration outlined in the MoU includes joint research activities, curriculum development, community service, and data and information exchange.
The Dean of FISIP UNEJ, Suyani Indriastuti, S.Sos., M.Si., Ph.D., warmly welcomed this partnership. “The collaboration with Komnas HAM is a strategic step for FISIP UNEJ in realizing our vision as a center for the study and development of social sciences relevant to societal issues, particularly in the field of human rights,” she stated.
Meanwhile, a representative from Komnas HAM expressed that this collaboration aligns with Komnas HAM’s efforts to involve various parties, including universities, in building a society that upholds human rights values. “We hope that this collaboration can produce various innovations and solutions to address the challenges in the field of human rights,” they stated.
With the establishment of this partnership, it is expected that FISIP UNEJ can become a reference point for human rights studies and advocacy in Indonesia. Additionally, FISIP UNEJ students will have the opportunity to be directly involved in various human rights-related activities, thereby enhancing their competencies in this field.
