The Department of Public Administration, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Jember, successfully conducted a workshop entitled “Policy Briefs in Public Administration: A Practical Guide for Advocacy and Change.” Targeted at students and academics, the workshop delved into the intricacies of crafting effective policy briefs as a tool for advocacy and driving policy change.

Participants gained a comprehensive understanding of policy briefs, from their objectives and structure to effective communication strategies. Dr. Selfi Budi Helpiastuti, S.Sos., M.Si., a renowned expert in public policy, provided in-depth insights into designing relevant, concise, and persuasive policy briefs to influence decision-makers.

Held in-person at the Faculty’s Second-Floor Dean’s Meeting Room, this collaborative event with the Department of Public Administration, Universitas Andalas, featured both theoretical presentations and hands-on practice. Participants had the opportunity to apply their knowledge by drafting policy briefs on specific policy issues, enhancing their ability to analyze, recommend, and present findings in a compelling manner.

The Dean of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Jember, Suyani Indriastuti, S.Sos., M.Si., PhD., expressed her appreciation for the workshop. “This event is crucial in equipping our students with the skills demanded in the professional world, especially for those aspiring to careers in public policy. Through policy briefs, students can actively contribute to crafting better policies,” she stated.

The workshop is anticipated to be a pivotal step for the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Jember, in cultivating a new generation of young individuals with robust policy analysis capabilities, poised to become agents of change within society.
