Recently, students from the Business Administration Study Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) of Jember University (UNEJ) conducted a field study focusing on industrial relations. This activity, involving a number of students, aimed to provide a deeper understanding of the dynamics of industrial relations in the real world of work.
During this activity, students visited several companies with diverse industrial relations characteristics. At each company, students had the opportunity to directly observe the practices of industrial relations management, interact with management and labor unions, and conduct in-depth interviews to gather information on current issues in industrial relations.
“This field study is very beneficial for us as Business Administration students,” said one of the participating students. “We can see firsthand how the theories we learn in the classroom are applied in the workplace. In addition, we also get the opportunity to interact with practitioners so that our insights are broadened.”
The lecturer who supervised the activity, Dr. Ika Sisbintari, S.Sos., M.AB., explained that the field study is an integral part of the curriculum of the Business Administration Study Program. “Through this activity, it is hoped that students can apply the knowledge they have acquired, develop analytical skills, and improve soft skills such as communication and cooperation,” she explained.
The results of this field study are expected to be a reference for students in writing their final assignments or theses. In addition, it is also expected to contribute to the development of knowledge in the field of industrial relations
