The Master of Administrative Science (MIA) Study Program at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), University of Jember, held a strategic three-day workshop titled “Mapping of Studies and Scientific Competence” from May 11 to 13, 2026. Hosted in Room B.109 of the FISIP Building, the event aimed to align the academic curriculum and research direction with evolving regional needs amid an increasingly competitive global era.<\/p>\n
The primary focus of this mapping initiative was strengthening transformative learning methods, specifically the Case Method<\/b> and Project-Based Learning (PjBL)<\/b>. Through these approaches, master\u2019s students are expected to look beyond textual public administration theories and actively analyze real-world issues faced by local governments. The updated curriculum is designed to produce graduates with sharp analytical skills capable of formulating data-driven policies and practical solutions.<\/p>\n
In his opening remarks, the Vice Dean I of FISIP University of Jember emphasized that addressing modern regional competitiveness requires an agile and innovative bureaucratic response.<\/p>\n
\n“We can no longer rely on conventional methods. This scientific competence mapping is a concrete step by MIA FISIP UNEJ to ensure that every study produced has direct relevance to improving public service performance and regional economic independence in this global era,” he stated during a discussion session on Monday (May 11).<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
Over the three days, faculty members and administration experts within FISIP UNEJ conducted an in-depth audit of course distributions and thesis research focuses. Participants discussed integrating pressing global issues\u2014such as government digitalization (e-government<\/i>) and environmental sustainability\u2014into field projects assigned to students. This integration ensures that students’ academic outputs can serve as applicable policy recommendations for local government partners.<\/p>\n
The event, which concluded on May 13, 2026, is expected to generate a refreshed and adaptive scientific competence roadmap. By strengthening the synergy between academia and field realities through PjBL, the Master of Administrative Science program at FISIP UNEJ is optimistic about becoming a center of excellence. It aims to develop human resources capable of elevating regional competitiveness to an international level while preserving local wisdom.<\/p>\n
